A Sight Unseen

Occupy UCR

I’m not the most political person in the word, but I still have my opinions. So, here’s my opinion…

I have mad respect for these people who are protesting, which is why I would have to disagree when I see people say stuff on social networking sites like, “oh, protesters are hippies… Or I don’t care about these protesters… Or they just need to stop…” To me, it’s just like dude are you serious? These people are being pretty courageous by just just rallying AND creating awareness of what’s going on. How can you not care about what’s going on? Even if what they’re doing now won’t affect us incredibly now, I feel they’re just starting to set the proper stepping stones to get us back to where we want public higher education to go back to. Without a doubt, I wouldn’t be saying this if the protesters became violent, but these student protesters are aren’t. They are rallying together, creating awareness of what’s going on and making people see the issue. Nonviolent protest just like what Ghandi did, and look at how much of an inspiration Ghandi has been to many leaders.

“Lead by example”

What our generation does now will inspire the future generations to keep going for what they believe in.
